Expanding the gas box to fit a standard grill size tank |
||
Intsallation complete. We're cooking with gas now. |
Here's the original gas locker with the tank and lid removed.
The box and the support it was sitting on are now removed. Got everything home, measured the boat, measured the standard gas tank. I'm stuck with the small one. A standard tank will not fit through the locker door. I'll still have to construct a new box to accommodate the new tank. Unfortunately after an extensive search I can't find a similar tank to replace the old one, which is rusty, last hydro tested in October of 1986, and is without an overfill protect valve.
Cutting out the pieces.
Putting the pieces together.
Beginning the assembly. This project won't be as pretty as some of my past projects, but this one won't be seen. The sole purpose here is to make sure everything is air tight except for the overboard vents.
Making sure everything has a place.
The initial fitting, now for the Teflon tape, caulking, and gasket for the top.
Everything sealed up and strapped into place.
It all fits, woo! hoo!
Installing the vents, gasket for the top and latches are next. Then it will be ready for installation and testing on the boat.
