Original rear shackle hanger.

Drill hole then tap.

Whoo! Hoo! Treaded, not stripped, and no broken taps on the first try.

Grease fitting installed.

Painted and ready to go.

Had one of the bolts welded to the inside of the frame come off during the removal of the shackle hanger. Here you can see the new one held in place with a piece of wire.

Tack welded in place.

Ran a tap through to clean up any welding spatter.

Ground the welds flat.

A little paint, and the hanger is bolted up.

Locating where the rear hangers need to be after replacing a chunk of the frame.

Drilling holes. Measure twice drill once as you can see there are two marks where the holes should be. Was a little short the first time around.

Drill, tap, paint.... attach.

Front and rear shackles back in place, as well as the engine mounts.

AMC vs. Aftermarket shackle hangers.  I replaced the front shackles because they were hopelessly bent and pulled at the factory weld. No such problem with the after market.  I didn't replace the rear, as they weren't bent.  I did hit them with the welder to add some metal to the joint and strengthen it some.

In the forground you will see a one piece rock solid shackle hanger (after market) compared to the bent and welded original.
