The Jeep Radio

Click on the picture above to see the web site, with the original Jeep grille shop radio.

I saw the Jeep grille turned into a workshop radio on Craig Brown's Jeep website.  I had to have one where I keep my Jeep parts collection.

So, it's a boring Sunday morning and too cold for epoxy work on the Dodger project, wasn't looking to start another big project like the MAME, and haven't ordered any of the parts for the front axel on the Jeep project so, I figured why not see if I can put the Jeep shop radio together.  I figured most of the parts must be laying around my garage, I just needed to find them.

1 February 2009

One beat up rusty Jeep grille, completely gutted.

Mounted a radio antenna. (the only part I had to buy)

An old power supply from a laptop computer. It's putting out a little more than 13vdc.

Installed a terminal board left over from a sail boat project to make power distribution a little easier.

Cut the back out of the light mounts.

Bolted the speakers removed from my old Jeep into the headlight mounts.

Installed them back into their rightful positions with the old chrome bezels.

Fabricating a tray to mount the stereo from my old Jeep from some aluminum stock I had laying around the garage.

Ready to mount.

Bolted up with some threaded stock and wingnuts from the spare bolt drawer.

The wiring all completed. Will it work or burn?

Whoo!! Hoo!! We have ignition with no smoke.

Mounted on the wall and making noise.
